I have been using gloves off and on,(mostly on) since the early 80s. Occasionally i would switch to chalk but would switch back after the gym staff would complain of the mess. Quick chalk provides a good grip at 1/4 the residue chalk produces. One or 2 small applications will last the entire workout. Yesterday and today were the 1st time in roughly 20 years I completed a weight workout without gloves. I recommend this product.
